Job Summary

*Incumbent must work a percentage of time each week in our Omaha, NE or Fargo, ND office.*

We are seeking an experienced, and highly motivated Corporate Accounting Specialist that will be responsible for performing first line reviews of financial reporting, including monthly financials, quarterly and annual shareholder reports, FCA call reports, Frontier CMR, and Board reports. Complete and/or review balance sheet account reconciliations, and coordinate resolution of discrepancies identified with appropriate teammates. Perform materiality analysis and ad hoc analysis. Perform analysis and other work required for annual patronage programs. Implement process improvements and reporting systems enhancements. Liaison with internal and external auditors.

Ensure compliance with the external and regulatory reporting and associated ICFR needs of Farm Credit Services of America, Frontier Farm Credit, AgCountry Farm Credit (Associations), and AgDirect LLP in accordance with requirements established by GAAP, Farm Credit Administration (FCA) regulations, AgriBank, Farm Credit Bank (FCB), CoBank, Agricultural Credit Bank (ACB), board, the Associations' policies and procedures, and effective and efficient business practice.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Reporting Completion & Review

  • Prepare and/or review daily/monthly/quarterly/annual general ledger balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely completion to support the financial reports' compliance with GAAP and FCA regulations for FCSAmerica, Frontier Farm Credit, AgCountry Farm Credit, and AgDirect LLP.
  • Prepare and/or review monthly/quarterly/annual financial reports, schedules, capital calculations; and quarterly FCA call report schedules.
  • Assist with preparation of Agribank Quarterly Information Requests and CoBank Frontier CMR reports.
  • Complete variance analysis of financial results as required.
  • Complete vendor maintenance to support the Accounts Payable team.
  • Review new GL account requests to ensure integrity of Financial Reporting processes.
  • Support team review of monthly financial statements to ensure accurate month-end close and understanding of the position and performance of the Associations.
  • Support development of PCA/FLCA allocations as needed.
  • Support implementation and alignment of Collaboration processes.

Risk Management

  • Recommend and assist in implementing process improvements to the reporting and accounting processes, and ICFR.
  • Perform as backup for other Financial Reporting team members, as required.
  • Perform analysis and other work required for annual patronage programs for the Associations.
  • Develop and implement enhancements to existing reporting systems, new reporting systems, updates, and modifications.
  • Work with internal and external auditors, assist with remediation of deficiencies and fraud control initiatives.
  • Perform materiality analysis, and other analyses, as required.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Banking, or Finance.

Years of Experience

  • 4 to 6 years of experience inGeneral accounting environment, including large enterprise reporting, general ledger, systems and reconciliations and knowledge of GAAP requirements and accounting standards. Strong analysis skills and ability to condense and review large amounts of data into meaningful analysis to assist with decision making. Deadline driven. Financial reporting experience and insurance experience desired.

Certification and Technical Requirements

  • 4+ years working in a general accounting environment, including large enterprise reporting, general ledger, systems and reconciliations and knowledge of GAAP requirements and accounting standards.

  • Experience in financial reporting. Knowledge of Farm Credit Administration (FCA) and Farm Credit System (FCS) accounting requirements preferred.

  • Strong analysis skills and ability to condense and review large amounts of data into meaningful analysis to assist with decision making.

  • Future-focused and demonstrated adaptability to changing technological environments.

  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
