A Brief Overview
The Transport Medical Logistics Coordinator (MEDLOG) ensures the readiness and operational efficiency of the ambulance fleet and transport equipment for the Children's Nebraska Neonatal & Pediatric Transport division. This role manages fleet and equipment maintenance, tracks out-of-service times and other key equipment metrics, and reports findings to leadership and relevant Transport committees. Responsibilities include coordinating repairs, performing minor maintenance, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and occasionally assisting in driving crews to support transport operations.
Essential Functions
- Oversees the management, upkeep, and functionality of transport division equipment, including stretchers, ventilators, monitors, IV pumps, and other critical care transport devices. Conducts routine inspections and ensures equipment is operational and in good working order. Performs minor maintenance and troubleshooting on transport equipment to ensure functionality during operations. Coordinates scheduled maintenance and repairs with the Biomedical Engineering Department, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines. Maintains an inventory of spare equipment and supplies, tracking usage and arranging timely replacements as needed. Assists in developing policies and procedures related to equipment management, maintenance schedules, and proper storage practices.
- Maintains accurate records of fleet and equipment maintenance, ensuring compliance with operational, regulatory, and safety standards. Tracks and documents all maintenance, repairs, and out-of-service times for ground ambulances, ensuring timely interventions to minimize downtime. Maintains a log of equipment malfunctions, repairs, and scheduled preventative maintenance to ensure reliability and readiness. Generates and analyzes reports on fleet and equipment performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Regularly presents data and key performance metrics to leadership and relevant committees, including Quality, Safety, and Operations & Practice Committees, to support continuous improvement initiatives. Assists in developing and refining maintenance policies and procedures to enhance fleet reliability and operational efficiency. Operational/Financial Management Analyzes processes and procedures and makes recommendations and/or decisions on guidelines for daily processes/activities within department pertaining to the operation and maintenance of the ambulance fleet. May recommend policy changes related to the department. Implements new or revised policies, processes, and procedures within the work area. Assures that insurance and vehicle registration is up to date Assists the Manager with the development of the annual budget for equipment and ambulance asset. Assists the Manager/Director in reporting damage of ambulances to proper organizational personnel to ensure timely repair of ambulances damaged in accidents or road hazards Ensures compliance with quality assurance, safety practices, policies, regulatory, and legal requirements.
- Provides assistance to staff as needed by monitoring and maintaining the general condition of the ambulance including ensuring the responsiveness to the organizational functions of the transport process Maintains ambulance status and availability, notifies team when status changes. Informs team of all key ambulance needs and information in a timely manner. Demonstrates written communication skills and computer/technology aptitude. Documents completely and succinctly, using proper grammar and approved abbreviations.

Education Qualifications
- High School Diploma Required
- Associate's Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications
- Operational experience with transport services Required and
- Experience with mechanical issues and problems of diesel trucks/ambulances Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Must be able to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure and be able to perform under stressful conditions when confronted with multiple requests, demonstrating prioritizing skills
- Must be able to work in an environment that is exposed to non-conventional motions, noise, vibration, fumes and extreme heat/cold.
Licenses and Certifications
- EMT - Emergency Medical Tech Current and valid Nebraska and National Registry EMT license Preferred and
- Health Services\BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Preferred and
- Completed and passed the Certified Emergency Vehicle Operator (CEVO) ambulance course within 90 Days Required
- Must have valid drivers license with an acceptable motor vehicle driving record Required and
- Multiple physical activities performed at the same time (carrying multiple equipment while pushing the cot or incubator) Required
