Position Overview:

Are you passionate about improving maternal and neonatal care through education? Join the EMBRACE (Excellence in Maternal Birth Outcomes through Rigorous Assessment and Community Engagement) Program as a Maternal Educator, where you'll help advance the quality of care for mothers and newborns across Nebraska.

In this unique role, you'll serve as the primary coordinator and liaison between the EMBRACE Program, Nebraska Medicine/UNMC, and the Nebraska Quality Perinatal Improvement Collaborative (NPQIC). Working closely with healthcare teams throughout the state, you'll develop, coordinate, and deliver evidence-based educational programs that support hospitals, providers, and clinical staff--particularly in rural communities.

You'll play a key role in improving maternal and neonatal outcomes by creating and facilitating educational initiatives such as labor and delivery training, NICU and neonatal education, fetal heart rate tracing courses, neonatal resuscitation training, crisis simulations, and regional conferences. You'll also collaborate with hospitals to assess their unique educational needs and develop customized learning plans that strengthen clinical practice and patient care.

Job Description:

Develop, coordinate, implement, and evaluate processes to meet the educational, development and competency need of nursing and nursing support staff through effective use of a variety of learning activities. Align activities with programs and processes the standardized functions for Nursing Professional Development.

Required Qualifications:

* Minimum of three years current applicable clinical experience in a health care setting required.
* Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) required.
* Demonstrated ability to plan development activities that impact positive outcomes and performance.
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills required.
* Demonstrated ability to instruct and collaborate with others required.
* Ability to solve complex problems through a well-ordered approach required.
* Knowledge of systems and change theory, individual, and group behaviors, teaching and learning principles, and research outcomes required.
* Ability to balance and prioritize diverse clinical and leadership responsibilities required.
* Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nebraska or current compact state license required.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, must be from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (effective for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later).

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
* Based on position, one or more of the following courses including STABLE, smoking cessation counseling, basic critical care or other specialty training courses is preferred
* Certification and ANPD or clinical specialty preferred.
